Face it OP, you do… slamming the door is expressing anger rather than de-escalating. Slamming the door is acting out, expressing anger. I know, I would do the same thing if I couldn't deal with my feelings.
You have to recognize you have angers issues too, and focus on your part. If you try to avoid facing this, and instead try to leave the blame on your wife and how you were slapped, you're falling into a trap that will send your thoughts in the wrong direction.
