My partner’s GMA has dementia. I didn’t get to meet her before onset so she had no idea who I am. We visit every Sunday. We just roll through the same set of questions and play along wherever she’s at in her world that day. It doesn’t upset her.
I worked in home health and hospice for a few years as a second job. My specialty training was for dementia. A lot of family members really struggle accepting how things are and get upset that their loved one can’t be pulled to “reality”.
