Actually we've been dating for almost 4 years now. We didn't have this problem before because he and I worked in the same company. I just quit my job after a couple years to gain more experience in a different job. After that, we would have a naked time aligning our schedules because he works the day shift while I work at night. When it's my day off, I would visit him to spend time together but even then, he would usually be on his phone almost the entire day, it's really frustrating. I tried to talk to him about it but he would make it seem like I'm the bad guy and he'd say that I'm not letting him get any time for himself anymore. Then long story short, we would end up arguing then making up in a few hours and then the cycle continues. It's really stupid.
I don't expect her to cover 50%. I suggested she pay a percentage based on take-home pay. She was disgusted by this idea.
She has never contributed more than 400 a month to the rent.

You may be right on this. I must admit she does do the majority of the housework. She tries to compare her contribution to housework.
