He says he’s unhappy but how does he see becoming happy? A marriage and children won’t suddenly fix whatever is missing in his life to make him happy. My first advice is get back on birth control. The last thing you need is to bring a child into this. Maybe marriage counseling can work but really it sounds like this is a problem with him, not your relationship. It sounds like he needs therapy but marriage and babies should be on hold for now. You should also consider that he actively looked for this affair thinking it might fill some hole and lied about it. Who’s to say he won’t do it again whenever he feels this way. Instead of coming to you, his partner of 7 years with his feelings he looked outside. Well actually I agree with her overall point about women being judged differently than men. But she then pivoted to a rant about how all men feel this way and she’s angry with men because of that. At that point I don’t think she wanted advice.
