Your wife has no idea what the world is actually like, she has no concept of the actual danger her need for attention could put you in, and it seems like she's unwilling to listen when you explain it to her – or maybe she doesn't believe you, or doesn't care. Not great options, really. And that's not even getting into how she seems to be making your identity about herself, which sucks all on its own. Regardless, the fact that she trusts them doesn't matter even a little bit. It doesn't matter who she thinks can handle it, who she thinks isn't a bigot or a gossip or whatever, because she has no right to tell anyone in the first place. So… Yeah, you're not crazy to feel this way, and you're already handling this invasion of privacy way better than I would be if I were in your shoes.
Maybe get her to pick up a hobby? Then she can try to be more interesting without dragging your personal information into it.
