I've been searching for a new job for more than three years because my old job was a dead end concerning both career ladder and salary. Last year I applied for a position in public services (water supply) which I was introduced to by my best friend. Even got a tour at the facility. Everything went well. Two days before my deadline I got a phone call that they have hired someone else. Someone who is actually overqualified but they want the person to replace the head of the department who will retire in a few years.
I know the urge to rage quit but I always had the strength to suppress it because I want to play it safe and don't want to end up jobless.
