My boyfriend (20M) prepared a vacation for him and I (22F) over winter break. We have been together for only about 7 months. We halted by his apartment to seize his stuff and his mom was there. She hopped in the backseat of his car and began talking to him in Spanish (I don’t speak Spanish, so not sure what was said). He explained to me that the lady was worried about us happening this trip because his car was old which she didn’t want all of us to go. He said he or she was going to convince her in order to let us go and they each went into his apartment to. He came back a few minutes later on, and she sat in the car again, this time with a huge bag packed. He stated she began crying due to how worried she had been and that she would be arriving with us on the trip, yet that she would stay in a separate hotel room.
He paid for the whole trip so I do not know if I have the directly to be upset, but we are 2 hours in to the 8 hr car drive and I’ve cried the whole time because I feel so overwhelmed. I find it weird that despite the fact that he’s an adult he let her completely change our vacation and I’m worried that this may cause problems later on. I know he loves the girl very much, but shouldn’t this individual learn to say no in order to his mom? I’m not sure if I’m overreacting since I’ve been off my medications for a few days tbh. I may be overthinking this.
What do I do? I’m therefore stressed, but I haven’t said or done anything at all yet because I don’t wish to cause any problems.
TLDR: My boyfriend planned a vacation for us. Right as we had been about to leave, his mom began crying because she didn’t want us to go and said she necessary to come with. He let the girl come with us.
