This is a great movement forward with communication. One thing I would really advise though is to find out “why” he is so happy. I have a feeling that there is some sort of wrong being righted in his life, but that whatever that wrong is, it's important to understand how it weighs on him, and why it feels like that weight comes off when you bond that way.
Like find a healthy balance between being someone to be trauma-dumped on, and someone who is able to help lighten your partner's load and enjoy the intimacy of carrying each other's burdens.
