(29M) My roommate (29m) will be falling into some kind of scam/catfish/nefarious activity from a bot-looking tinder account. He’s dead fixed on meeting her plus I’m worried about it intended for both him and myself.

So here' s the situation. My roommate has matched with a girl on tinder. I don' capital t know everything, but this individual showed me the profile and it' s an average bot looking account – stock images of a gorgeous asian lady and minimum profile.

He matched along with her two weeks ago and has been chatting since. She' s apparently from hong kong and a citizen of north america (where we online). They' ve exchanged pictures plus videos, so the current considering is that she' s a minimum of a real person and not a dude from a scam middle. She' s also openly sent pictures of the girl passport to prove that will she' s a resident (suspicious).

About a week into meeting, she gave him access to some kind of stock trading accounts with $20, 000 USD on it and asked your pet to use it to do a few trading. Her explanation in order to why she couldn' to do this herself was that ' she didnt have her phone and the UI was much better on mobile'.

He' s blinded by the fact that this has a 0. 001% chance of being a real, beautiful, rich lady who wants him enough to trust your pet with tens of thousands of dollars within a week of meeting.

They' re apparently going to get together in two weeks for a day when she gets back again from Hong Kong. This is certainly completely psychotic behavior, but despite any reasoning, he' s committed to seeing the girl.

Does anyone have any kind of advice on what the scam or the long con here is? It' s obviously something but he' s convinced that will she' s real, since they' ve video chatted and called. Not a catfish, but it could be anything from using him to launder unlawful money, some kind of long que incluye scam to get into his banking account.. or any multitude of things We haven' t even considered.

EDIT: I guess thinking about it, I didn' t give him an entirely fair tremble here. He is well conscious that it' s extremely suspicious and a 0. 001% chance of it being legit. He' s said this individual isn' t giving the girl access to any of his money, or accounts, or investing any of his money on anything she sends him. He is, quote, " continuing with caution. " But he still wants to give it a try and meet her to find out if he just hit the jackpot. I' m trying to figure out how to convince him not to.
