I once heard a female-friend make this statement to me while venting about an ex-boyfriend who basically did the same thing. “I can't believe he is willing to throw away the life that we have together”
But no one applauds the person who starts a race of great and quits before it's over. You want to think he gave it all up because he is scared. But let me be frank with you. Someone does not make it to 38 with all the qualities you describe as great and manages to still be single.
He had flaws before he met you. And commitment when things are not easy obviously is still one of them. I wish you the best but you need to stop acting on how you think he feels and act on what's actually happening.
And I'm not saying don't fix things or don't keep trying. I'm just saying realize this is incredibly selfish even if he is having a tough time. And bring the focus on you taking care of the people who rely on you.
That’s for the two ppl in question to figure out, 2 consenting adults can do what they want and there’s no point guessing what will happen. Obviously in theory all scenarios are possible, which one will it be I won’t bother speculating. It could become a relationship. Purely sexual or a million things in between…only time will tell and you’ll figure that out obviously by actions and having adult communication about needs and wants
