My husband just grabbed his keys and walked out the door.
I was in my daughters (F4) room helping her with her TV, when I heard keys jingle and the front door close. I assumed he was running out to his car for something or to grab the mail. But then realized he hadn't come back in yet after a few minutes. I checked the driveway and sure enough- he had left.
I immediately felt so confused and kind of worried. Collectively-we have never done this. We always let each other know when we are leaving the house. Not in a way thats permission seeking, just a courteous, "Hey I'm running to the store" or whatever. He wasn't gone for very long, maybe 20 minutes, but when he got back I asked why he left without saying anything. All he could say was " It wasn't long"/" I wasn't gone for very long". I told him it wasn't something we typically did, that we always tell each other when we are running out for something, he just brushed me off completely.
Am I wrong to feel upset about this? I know it may seem trivial but it rubbed me the wrong way. Should I bring it up again or just let it go?
Edit: He has been a bit grouchy today over nothing imparticular… he said he went to the store for aleve, even though we had tylenol and naproxen in our med-cabinet. Not getting anywhere with trying to talk. I expressed that I would appreciate a heads up that he's leaving in the future, its just common courtesy to say something before disappearing. He agreed but seemed to just want to end the conversation. I'm just going to let it go and be a bit more mindful of what he's doing/how he is acting for awhile. He is usually very good about touching base with me so this was just very odd. My gut just said it was weird….. Thank you everyone for the advice/input, hopefully there won't be anything else to update on..
TL;DR my husband left our house without saying anything to me and brushed my concerns off.
