Just an anecdote about how lies ruin lives, a woman lied about being raped by a young African-American teenager. This was about 70 years ago. She said he whistled at her and cat called her. I sincerely don’t think your wife is even sorry for what she did. She is afraid that by asking questions you would have figured it out or she told someone the truth and they were going to tell. Whatever it was, she didn’t tell you this now to try to work on things and cuz she’s sorry, she just figured it had been a long enough time and you would react the way you did… with all the positive things you could think of to not break up a 12 year marriage.
