Was never an “eat what you want” kind of guy and have been heavy most of my life. Want to give some insight on what I and others like me deal with on a regular basis. I can eat healthy, run a caloric deficit, and still not lose weight. Since the age of 30 (47 now), the only way I have been able to lose weight is by drastic measures, such as one meal a day type stuff.
Unfortunately, for some of us, while changing our lifestyle makes us healthier, it doesn’t always equal weight loss. A few years back, I was co-sponsor of a running club at the school that I taught at. For six months, the club ran three times a week distances varying from two miles to a half-marathon. I didn’t miss a single run and went to the gym for weight training three days a week as well. I also ate better and had a caloric deficit daily. When I started, I weighed 260 lbs. after six months, I weighed 250. I felt better and looked somewhat better, but I was still big man. It was a very frustrating experience. Please be prepared that if your husband comes around and does everything “right” as far as lifestyle changes, he may still not experience the weight loss you are hoping for.
