OP shouldn't be searching for companies at all. She should be researching agencies in her area and submitting to them directly with a headshot. Anyone who claims to be a middle man who will get you signed is looking to scam you. I've been in this industry for ten years and there are a lot of charlatans who prey on young people like OP.
An agency relationship works like this: if they see marketable potential in you, they sign you and submit you for jobs they think you might book. If you are bookable, they keep you on their roster. If you aren't, they drop you. They're taking on the risk because you are a commodity for them. You should not be paying them to see you, sign you, or submit you.
