Do you not see how problematic this is? His excuse that he used is him basically admitting that he either has no idea how to communicate to you or willfully doesn't communicate to you. Either scenario is equally as dysfunctional.
His reason for doing what he did is moot because he never communicated to you that he was feeling neglected. How are you supposed to improve if he doesn't come to you and vice versa?
