I'll tell you that stories like this don't help, I'm sorry. I know your intentions are good but I was in this person's shoes at one point but the only thing I could think was how lucky that person was to have experienced being proposed to and how I longed to have that connection with my partner. At a certain point being engaged and then eventually breaking it off somehow feels better than never being engaged.
