The other side of your read on the situation is this:
What you're saying is that this woman, who has been paying for fertility treatments, is pregnant by a man outside her marriage. Did *she* need the fertility treatments? Did her cheating start because her husband refused to accept his part of infertility do anything about it?
She wants kids. She should keep the kid and lose the husband. Obviously, he's the actual issue with fertility.
I think it's funny you want to give him a pass for checking out. That he knows he's been cheated on. That's conjecture. It's just as likely the wife checked out when he didn't care about the process of having a baby and he checked out because of the fertility or she did. Either way, they should just leave each other and move on.
