I agree to an extent. I really wasn't attempting to get into a discussion about politics on the relationship advice reddit. In a political world that many want to be an “us or them” deal, it's important to remember that there is a wide spectrum of political beliefs still. I voted democratic for the first few years after 18 but still was staunchly against abortion due to my upbringing. I now tend to vote Green, Independent or Libertarian and wholeheartedly support bodily autonomy in every way. But I live in an area with a lot of former Republicans who are now in the Democratic party yet haven't actually changed their policies. So unfortunately I don't get the option to vote for anything but Dem or Rep in many offices and positions. We don't know what his reasoning is. Blanket statements that classify half of the country concerning American politics is how we got where we are, not having an actual choice and hating each other.
