Op my dad’s side is all olive skinned dark haired. I take a after my mom’s side and wound up with pale skin and blonde hair. I looked just like my mom’s sister/ my cousins on that side (seriously some of my cousins look more like my siblings than my brother does). My eyes look identical to my cousins’ on my dad’s side- same dark brown with tiger eye red and gold hues in certain lights, pretty if you catch that, otherwise is just dark brown). I’m very obviously my dad’s daughter, too, got some of his health conditions. Still my grandma would constantly go on and on and make me feel like shit that I couldn’t be her granddaughter because I didn’t look enough like her side of the family. It’s awful. Even knowing we’re bio family to be put down for looking like the “wrong” side of the family.
Please do some dna testing if you’re that concerned and in the meantime have your husband shut down all rude comments. Whether your daughter is old enough to understand or not. If she’s over 3 you don’t want any of those comments around her because she will pick up on something being off and start to question if grandma loves her and if she belongs.
