My buddies think my boyfriend and I have set some sketchy and toxic boundaries in our relationship. We have both decided not to spend one on one time (aka alone time) with people of the opposite sex. He got cheated on in the past and I’m quite insecure myself. As far as I’m worried we both stick to this rule and haven’t had any kind of jealousy issues since yet lots of people think it’s poisonous. How should I approach the situation? Has anyone else done this and exactly how has that worked out to suit your needs so far?
TLDR: close friends think my relationship with my bf is harmful because we agreed not to spend alone time with individuals of the opposite sex.
MODIFY: Obviously family doesn’t depend. Neither does co-workers since we must maintain professional. Also hanging out with friends of the opposite sex is fine (for us) as long as it’s as a group instead of 1v1.
