My bf (21M) broke up with me (21F) because I didn’t want kids

I (21 F) and my (21 M) bf broke up because he randomly truth bombed me about wanting kids. We have always talked about a child-free life, and that he's completely fine with my decision to not have kids. Then he said to me that he deep down always wanted them and knows he will regret it if he doesn't. He told me that he has "paternal instincts" but I don't think he realised the physical and mental toll it takes for a biological female to have them.

We were highschool sweethearts and have gone through major life events together all just to be thrown away.

I don't think it's very fair to dump this on me, especially after saying he was ok with not having any. I feel like he has wasted both of our time.

This is more of a rant but this sub requires me to ask a question so how can I move on from this?

Edit: He said he wished I hated him so that I could've initiated the break up. He was a coward until I told him that he had to make the decision himself seeing as it was his reason for the break up.
