I feel so heard reading this. Thank you! Yeah, that's what our therapist says… That he needs to online his life by his values and let me live! mine by my values. I think he has a lot of anxiety that I'm going to ruin my life somehow… But like I told him “Well, if I do then don't bail me out! It's my responsibility.”
If depression is the cause: It is very hard for a depressed person to get something done by themselves. So it might be easier for her to start working again (and hire a help) then to do chores on her own, especially when it is a work where she will have to leave the house and see people. But stopping therapy (and not starting a new one) and stopping counseling is not a good sign.
