Instead of coming across with a “set in stone” comment when talking to someone just say things like “I could be wrong, I'll have to look it up to be sure”, there is nothing wrong with admitting that you don't know everything so chances are good that when you show some doubt people wont care, it's when you have that “I KNOW for a fact that I'm right so no one else could possibly be right” attitude is what will turn most people off.
