I think you’re being very naïve here. This isn’t about your friendships, this is about someone’s marriage. You have no idea if the husband has intentions towards you. You don’t know how he communicates with and treats his wife in regards to female colleagues and friends. My guess is they have issues with infidelity. Basically, you’ve been blindsided and dragged into their relationship.
This whole thing was immature and unprofessional and you’re left to pay the price for others mistakes! Spreading rumours, hinting at sexual innuendos, “shipping” colleagues… all behaviour that would have gotten your friends fired at a job with a good code of conduct and proper HR.
My advice is to verify wary of unprofessional work environments in the future as the fun usually comes with a cost.
