I appreciate you sharing it from that point of view, that's why I asked the question. I did talk to my husband about it and he is ok with me hanging out with this person, but like you said my coworker may be seeing it as more than just friends.
That's the perspective. The risk of him being a massive douche down the line is just too great. Yes, it could be a one off thing, but if it isn't, then you've wasted even more time on someone who dared to be this condescending and disrespectful when he found you on a vulnerable state.
