She probably always will love this man. When you have a child with someone they remain a part of you forever. If this is more than you can bear then she's not the right person for you to be with. You're not in some kind of competition with this deceased person. Don't make the mistake of believing you're in a “him or me” scenario. Also consider the lifetime she has ahead of her trying to explain the situation to her child. This stuff is all much bigger than how she feels about you. So if you want to stay with her try to be supportive to a reasonable degree. Obviously if she's sad all the time about this you'll need to urge her into getting some grief counseling. But if it's just on the anniversary of his death (and 9/10 of it is probably on behalf of her now fatherless child), you may need to learn to just cope with it.
