That was my original thought too. She might just be expressing her frustrations at her relationship or lack of one. I had thought that I might be slightly jaded due to prior experience. I think we might need some context around her best friend's relationship, if she has one because her arguments (or lack of arguments) is telling.
It could also be what they always imagined for their proposal too
