Momma, why are you trying so very hot to make this work when he isn’t? Whatever work you put in will never be enough to cover his part of the deal. He obviously can strategize and put in the effort. You see it every time he acts and reacts in this totally unreasonable manner. The salient difference in my mind and also in most other people's is the interactivity, and you gave 3 examples that are wildly different.
Porn as streaming, prerecorded media is non-interactive.
Phone sex with another person is fully interactive with your attention on each other.
Live! cams, like streaming, can be anywhere from non-interactive to pretty substantially interactive which is why most people don't think of them the same as porn.
Most people are uncomfortable with the idea of their partner having sexual interaction with other people. This applies to having a partner doing sex work, paying sex workers, and of course, having any kind of sex with other people.
Watching porn being acceptable is a divisive topic (and porn addiction absolutely ruins relationships) but it's absurd to say phone sex with someone else and porn are equivalent.
Thank you for your nice words. It sounds like we have very similar thoughts on this situation! Thankfully I have an incredibly supportive partner and mother. I'm not currently in therapy but have no qualms about starting it again if I feel that I'm not coping well enough by myself.
I've found myself somehow more confused about what to do after reading the various replies to this post lol, but I will absolutely update this post if I decide to reach out to siblings 🙂
