Well with my GF and I we’ve been together for almost four years and I always asked before we kissed or hugged because she has traumas that make her feel disgusted when touched and so I feel it necessary to ask when we were first dating but as the years went on she’s grown to like the display of affection and I don’t normally ask anymore unless she’s in a really bad place, we communicate well enough to know that if she doesn’t want something she’ll say it and I’ll respect it. So I’m just curious what the argument was about because I just don’t know why else she’d set these rules if it wasn’t the fact the he just doesn’t respect her boundaries enough to put his junk away.
Honestly? I think you just keep doing what you’re doing. You’re never going to be able to connect as peers because he’s so much younger, but you can still be the cool older sibling. I have a younger cousin who I reconnected with when she was like 20 and we talk pretty regularly. She vents to me about her dad, we talk about work or school, all sorts of shit. I have experience her friends don’t, but I’m not an authority figure. That’s a really important role to play for a young adult/older teen trying to navigate life.

I can understand but wanting to have you join guy time, it might not even be about you. They may have a girl in the group that always wants to come, they may use the time to talk about really personal things. Or they may just be sexist idiots.
However, if your bf knows you like fishing and won't even go just the two of you on your own trip then he has a problem with women doing “guy stuff” and he doesn't sound that great.
