Take it from an old fart, the odds are still in your favor! You're only 23 with the strong possibility of another good 40-50 +/- years ahead of you. There is no telling who or where you'll be 10, 20 or even 30 years from now. If she's never brought the topic up, she probably loves you for you and doesn't care that you come from a poor family. If you're dead set on broaching the subject take a short course on interpersonal communications then when you talk to her start out by telling her really love her then ask questions like what does she expects from you/your relationship, where does she see your relationship headed and what does she want in the long run. Do NOT bring up her family's money, the fact that her family is rich, really doesn't mean sh*t in the larger scheme of things, just because, they are doesn't automatically make her rich or entitled to their money. Some of my late relatives were extremely wealthy, they expected their kids to make their own fortunes and donated most of their estate to charity. One of them who started out 'grew up on a dirt floor' poor worked his arse of and eventually owned almost EVERY orchard in 3 counties. While he had paid to put his kids through college, he didn't spoil them growing up & didn't help them out very much or very often when they got older. In his will, he put everything into a charitable trust with the provision that none of the orchards or his other business properties could be sold, they were to continue being managed they way he had managed them and the proceeds used to finance the causes he outlined in his will. His kids got keepsakes from his house, a bit of money from the sale of his car & the family home – that's all they got. BTW: Money doesn't = good morals, intelligence, success or happiness. BTW: At your age the smartest thing you can do is to start putting as much money as you can afford each paycheck into a compound interest savings account or IRA and NEVER touch it. Also, when ever you get a few extra bucks invest them in an index fund or penny stocks. Buy cheap used cars, nice houses, vacant lots on the outskirts of growing cities, avoid designer brands and pinch pennies for the next 10 to 15 years. Do it now & You'll eventually be glad you did. Find a vocation/trade that you love and work your tail off to be the best; take classes on how to start & manage a business, classes on how to invest money so that money works for you, set a goal like owning your business and work toward it.
