5. Well, it was a nonsense question to ask, you set both of you up for failure in my opinion.. You basically asked, “if you two had never broken up, would you still be together?” It’s a nonsense hypothetical because if she hadn’t cheated, who knows if they may have married and been together forever, or if something else down the line would have happened. That doesn’t really mean anything other than he loved her and they had a good relationship up until she broke his heart. I do feel really bad for you that he talks about her a lot, though. I’m (unfortunately) a pretty jealous girlfriend and I would have had to put a FIRM boundary up about bringing up his ex. This guy might not have broken that soul tie with his ex
