I don't disagree with your assessment, but I will say that Steve is mostly an intelligent and reasonable guy. We've recently told Steve of plans for my boyfriend to move into my place next year, and Steve seemed to understand. Even when I suggested that I would understand if he's upset with me for taking his tenant, he replied that he expected it eventually, and that he's not upset. He appreciated the heads up. I believed him in the moment, but now it's come to light that Steve will have to sell the house they built together because he can't afford the taxes without a tenant. I have a suspicion that this is why the n-word dropping has returned after a few months of no instances.
That behavior is fucking exhausting. Just imagine how much worse it’s going to be if you keep this guy around for years.
He’s basically grinding down every simple (or not so simple) joy/achievement you have in your life until you’re as dead inside as he wants you to be.
