HIV and sleeping around aside, I felt the same way in my late 20’s.
I had a close family member pass very young and very suddenly/unexpectedly. It jarred me. I was acutely aware that life is very short and even then we have no idea how many ‘good years’ we have on this planet.
I decided I wanted to do a Masters and travel. I didn’t want my late 20’s to be about restaurant openings, getting drunk and shopping. I didn’t want accumulated wealth to show for my time. I wanted life experiences. I travelled. I travelled a lot. And when I came back I did a semester of school. I was very very lucky and money/time fell into place. I’ve been to quite a few places and was able to spend enough time in each place to get to know it.
It’s ok to take a different path than the others.
For my part I met a man as I we beginning my decade of adventure. We travelled together, we travelled separately and met up places. Now we have settled down with a little one.
Take your own path. My 2 cents on the HIV. Take the test, talk to the girl, then move on in your life. HIV isn’t a death sentence and if you do have it….which you may not…you could live your whole life with an undetected viral load. Honestly Diabetes is more debilitating than HIV. It’ll be ok.
