Ehhh it sounds shady. People who aren't shady have nothing to hide. If you were checking snapchat notifications and one from your friend was on there from late at night, would you hesitate to open it in front of him or would you wait until you were alone? It's only shady if he is checking other notifications and purposely not checking others in front of you.
