2. The first two times it was really bad breathe (I don’t think they have great oral hygiene) however the third time it was disgusting. It was an unwashed, smelly ass smell (so sorry for the vulgar description but that’s the only way I could describe it).

   BO is uncomfortable but happens and perfume is a personal choice, this is something on a whole other platform.

3. no this is not just how it is

   this is a massive red flag

   I'm concerned about how well you really know this guy if you've only been living together for 5 months. That's the sort of timescale where people can hide their true nature. I know you've been together longer but I've noticed that to many people that can mean for example seeing each other once a week, which isn't enough to know anybody properly.

   Don't take on a “project” as a relationship. You're more than likely just delaying the inevitable. He WILL do it again. It WILL get worse. What are you going to do when you go to events like birthday parties or weddings or nightclubs and he's acting like an asshole towards you? I've been there and let me tell you it's not pleasant. And they can always make promises about not drinking and trying to change but OOPS just had a few drinks and you're back to square one. It's much harder to get doctors to take these issues seriously as they are not constantly drinking.

4. Spend some time reading in r/justnomil and see if any of the mothers being described match up with your mother's change in demeanor since you started seeing your girlfriend.
