Idk, I grew up in NE Pennsylvania (aka Pennsyltuckey), we're definitely a purple state(and lean heavy red in our house/senate the majority of the time) and even kids in rural areas aren't getting taught abstinence only unless they go to a crazy strick private religious school/home school. I have friends from all over the place, at least 20 different schools and none of them had abstinence only sex ed, even the ones who went to Catholic school. I'd only ever even heard the term (abstinence only sexual education)as an adult after leaving PA and traveling the country. Prior to that the only time abstinence was mentioned was in Sunday school/church.
Now of course, my experience is purely anecdotal and not naked evidence, but the statistics don't agree with your statement either. If blue states were predominantly pushing abstinence only sexual education and the ones that didn't were outliers the difference of teen pregnancy and STD/STI rates when adjusted for population would be negligible state to state but they aren't.
You are only shitty if you lie to him and stay with him out of some obligation. You deserve happiness. You owe yourself more than anyone else to be true. I agree with others to be honest with him about how you are feeling. Don't be cruel, but be honest. Maybe he is feeling the same way?
You did him a favor. Hopefully, he will realize it and walk away. It’s good to find out who someone is, before you waste too much time on, and invest too much of yourself in, them. Now he knows.
