1. I didn’t realize replying to you on a public forum is considered “bothering” you.

   The post I would assume uses they and them pronouns because gender doesn’t matter to the discussion and they don’t want any bias in the answers.

   The fact that they used “they” and that was enough to help bias you into deciding the gender of the op based upon an experience is enough reason for them to not want gender to be a factor in the discussion.

   And of course a man is capable of doing something like this. But you shouldn’t assume it is in this case in my opinion.

3. I’m not sure it’s fair to expect OP to just wait indefinitely in extreme limbo. Was a month the right timeframe? Maybe not but imagine the extreme angst and anxiety he is going thru over this. Asking your SO to step in or step out isn’t unreasonable.
