People hate to be told they are wrong. I’m hoping he was just reacting because it embarrassed him to think he could have been out of line.
You did the right thing. He needed to hear that. Whether he can change is the true test. It takes my husband a few days to shift gears and if I reproach the issue until he agrees- he never would. He is proud like that. I’m willing to stay with him because even though he never admits I am right- later I will see he has thought about what I said and he integrates it into his behavior.
I hope he is that kind of guy. If he’s not- and actually believes his office culture and his own toxic behavior was ok- I don’t think you should stick around. You should build your life with someone who is compassionate and kind.
