That's fine, we shouldn't be with people who can't accept or life choices. I agree with you there.
No one has to accept your past however. A dealbreaker is a dealbreaker.

Treat him like a pen pal you met once but that you only communicate with once in a while.
Save up your chat until you’ve got lots to say then text.
If you’re hanging on your phone getting stressed that he’s not replying then you’re more invested than him.
Sounds like he enjoyed your company and still wants to chat as a friend but isn’t interested in long distance.
Treat him the same and if you can’t (like you want more than that) then you’ll probably have to say goodbye or you’ll just keep getting hurt when he doesn’t immediately reply.

This is a great way to put it. I have much different politics than my wife, but we share the values we care about. We vote for the same candidates in general elections, sometimes different ones in primaries, and a mix in bond/ballot initiatives.
