When you start developing feelings for a married person, you back off until those feelings fade. You don’t nurture those feelings and then confess them. You were being selfish, and you’ve put them in a terrible position. Your life should not be torpedoed from this because your life shouldn’t revolve around them. I understand you want to keep the friendship, but you can’t do that until the romantic feelings are gone. If you want to do the right thing, you would get hobbies and friends and a life away from them and stop contact until you’ve moved on from these feelings.
