I’m concerned you think your dad will hate you for telling the truth. This puts it in a situation where I think your dad is an asshole because this is your first thought.
Personally, I would never think that my father would hate me for coming clean about something years later. He would be concerned about my mental health that I held it in.
This makes me think your child eyes are not putting 2 and 2 together. Despite reddits complete unreasonable “cheating in the worst thing to ever happen ever” there are a hundred million things that could cause someone to cheat, including being abusive by withholding affection, and a million reasons why a woman would stay with a husband especially if she has a small child.
If it’s bothering you that much, I would talk with a therapist, but also your mother to get perspective on what their life was like at the time.
