I'm with you there. There were a lot of things outside our control when we first started… untreated mental illness, trauma, him getting out of the military and me out of college, the pandemic starting, etc.
It was super difficult. We both went to therapy, we hashed out shit and had conversations over and over and over. First year and a half was difficult. Then things sort of clicked. Last year and a has been amazing.
The biggest difference for us was the ability to truly take accountability for your shitty actions and change the pattern of behavior. Found our way to communicate.
Jesus though if OOP is not willing to go that after a decade I don't have high hopes.
