1. Ok, and? The age difference between 23 and 18 is still gross and my original point still stands. A five year age gap there is a very big deal and the maturity levels and life experiences are still vastly different, as opposed to a five year age gap between someone is 30 and someone who is 35.

2. I was going to say this. As a now sober alcoholic, my drinking wasn't a linear downward spiral, there were periods where I seemed to get better, sometimes without trying, before sinking even lower.

   Also I think this is a risky game for OP to play. She shouldn't stick around to find out what kind of drinker her boyfriend is, it's clearly already upsetting for her. My advice to anyone whose partner's drinking upsets them is to get out asap.
