In most countries 18 is just graduating and getting a job. Maybe not even your first. There are a lot of common spaces with people up to 25 I'd argue, which is way more important than 'Well, you might change in 5 years'. Like, it's one thing to use '16' here, and is explictily weird for people to seek out 18 year olds by age almost the second you turn 19, but shit can just happen.
30 to 23 is a different scenario . . . And also probably not as bad as you're making it out to be. It's also fringe but kind of the start and end of common life transitions in terms of age.
I only point it out because the way some people are talking about the given 5 year age gap is exactly as weird as the girl acted about a 4 year age gap. It's fine to point out in the moment, but a bit much to walk away concerned about.
As long as she is alive, this is a glimpse into what your life would be. Unless he is able to set SERIOUS boundaries with her, and more importantly stick to them, I don't see this going well for you.
